Who We Are

Who we are

Jai Jungle is a women-led movement reviving ancient tribal traditions through science and sustainability. Based in the forests of Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, our mission is to bring Mahua — a nutrient-rich, forgotten superfood — into modern homes with purity, purpose, and pride.

We work with 50+ tribal women to ethically harvest and process forest-grown Mahua into wellness-focused products: sweeteners, teas, oils, pain relief balms, and more. Every product supports livelihoods, preserves biodiversity, and strengthens tribal economies.

Beyond food, we work with 140+ tribal women artisans who handcraft baskets, trays, and everyday utility products using the rare forest grasses Chind and Kansa, keeping indigenous skills alive while creating dignified livelihoods.

Our Roots: Where Tribal Wisdom Meets Modern Wellness

Jai Jungle was not born in a lab—it was born in the forests of Jashpur, from the fragrance of Mahua flowers, the strength of tribal women, and one man’s return to his roots. Founder Samarth Jain, after his research in Belgium, returned home to revive lost traditions. Witnessing Mahua’s reduced identity as a liquor ingredient, he explored its Ayurvedic potential—as a cooling, immunity-boosting, digestive, and hormonal balancing flower.

Our Work: From Forest Produce to Thoughtful Products

Jai Jungle’s product range is shaped by what the forests and farms of Jashpur naturally offer—Mahua, millets, traditional rice varieties, herbs, and seasonal forest produce. Each product begins with careful sourcing and moves through thoughtful processing, where traditional practices are refined with food safety, quality control, and scientific understanding. Whether it is Mahua-based foods, wellness infusions, millet products, or native grains, the focus remains on minimal intervention, clean ingredients, and preserving the original character of the raw material. Our work is not about creating trends, but about responsibly translating indigenous food systems into products suited for modern lifestyles.

Our People: Women at the Centre of Every Decision

At the heart of Jai Jungle are tribal women, who lead every aspect of the enterprise. From identifying new product ideas and participating in trials, to forest collection, grading, processing, and day-to-day operations, women’s self-help groups are deeply involved at every step. They manage manufacturing units, oversee hygiene and quality, handle packaging, and take responsibility for order dispatch and fulfilment. These women are not just workers following instructions—they are skilled practitioners, decision-makers, and custodians of knowledge. Jai Jungle exists as a women-led system, where ownership, responsibility, and pride remain firmly within the community

Our Journey: From Mahua to Movement

Founder’s Note

I returned to Jashpur after years of studying science and nanotechnology and engaging in scientific research abroad. That phase gave me a deeper understanding of what science truly is—not just laboratory work, but an approach to observing nature carefully, questioning assumptions, and respecting complex systems. Coming back home, I began to see the forests, food systems, and traditional practices around me with new clarity.

Living closely with forest and tribal households, I observed how Mahua continued to be part of everyday food and culture—yet had lost its wider respect. A forest food once valued for nutrition and energy had been reduced to a narrow, misunderstood identity.

My relationship with Mahua deepened during the COVID-19 pandemic, when I worked on developing one of the first Mahua-based sanitizers. That project was implemented on the ground with local tribal women’s self-help groups. Working alongside them—through sourcing, processing, quality control, and long production hours—made one thing clear: real change does not come from raw material extraction alone. It comes from processing, value addition, and ownership staying with the community.

Jai Jungle was founded with the same SHG women who worked with me on the Mahua sanitizer project. Jashpure grew out of that foundation. Our vision is straightforward—to restore dignity to forest foods through food-grade processing, scientific rigour, and transparent markets, while ensuring tribal women are not just workers, but owners and leaders. This is not about revival for nostalgia, but about building a resilient, fair system where traditional knowledge and modern discipline move forward together.
